Creating a bathroom that seamlessly blends luxury with personal style was our client’s vision for their Penang home. They desired a space that embodied the sophistication of a high-end hotel bathroom, yet felt intimately their own.

The Essence of Modern Elegance

The design journey began with a bold move: positioning a large, freestanding tub by the window to capture the serene Penang views. We then creatively utilized adjacent hallway space to integrate a steam shower, cleverly concealing the generator within the walls. This allowed us to reserve the main wall for a striking double vanity.

Highlighting the Vanity Area

Our design focus was on crafting a standout feature with the vanity. The centerpiece is a chunky horizontal top in sleek Ocean Black Travertine, flanked by vertical Urban Grey Limestone niches. This combination creates a dramatic yet subtle visual impact. The gently curving mirror supports and oval sink bowls add a touch of softness, enhancing the overall elegance. The vanity’s doors feature a textured surface by Xylocleaf, reminiscent of metal mesh for added character.

Material Fusion for Warmth and Sophistication

We chose Honed Ocean Black Travertine for its rich texture and refined veining, providing a timeless backdrop. Urban Grey Antiqued Limestone offers a contrasting solidity, complementing the Travertine without overshadowing it. The metals—vintage brass taps, bronze mirrors, and door frames—introduce an industrial edge while maintaining warmth. Custom pieces, like the bespoke towel rail, ensure a harmonious and authentic finish.

The final design seamlessly blends diverse materials and finishes, creating a space that exudes understated elegance and comfort. This bathroom not only reflects a sophisticated industrial aesthetic but also offers a serene retreat, perfectly aligned with the client’s vision for their Penang residence.
